The wider estate at Abbotsford provides a beautiful and rich landscape in which children can play.

Scott liked to place historic objects within his gardens and even in the house itself. This provides a fantasy landscape that can awaken children’s imaginations. As part of the campaign to save Abbotsford, a new play trail will be created, based upon the age of knights and princesses so often incorporated into Scott’s works. The play trail and improved facilities for children will be opened in Summer 2012.
