






The “Inner sanctum” and the room where Scott wrote many of his works. The Study is very atmospheric and reflects Scott’s detailed and personal approach to the design of his house. A good example of his direct involvement appears in the study, where Scott insisted on the requirement for a small staircase and gallery. The raised gallery leads to a doorway which in turn allowed Sir Walter to escape any unwanted attentions, via a spiral stairway to his private rooms on the next floor. |
