The Study is very atmospheric and reflects Scott’s detailed and
personal approach to the design of his house. A good example of
his direct involvement appears in the study, where Scott insisted on the
requirement for a small staircase and gallery. The raised gallery leads
to a doorway which in turn allowed Sir Walter to escape any unwanted
attentions, via a spiral stairway to his private rooms on the next
floor. |
