       This simple family Chapel was not part of the original house created by Scott. TheChapel was added to the property as was the private wing, in 1855 by Scott’s granddaughter Charlotte and her husband James Hope-Scott. Charlotte converted to Catholicism on her marriage to James Hope during theCatholic revival. Sir Walter himself was a Scottish Presbyterian. |
